Cancer is the second leading cause of death among children between ages 1 to 14 years in the United States; accidents are the most frequent cause of death in this age group. Cancer remains the number one disease killer of America’s children – more than Cystic Fibrosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Asthma and Aids combined.
To help families and those affected by cancer, Kevin Hart and the Help From the Hart Charity supports and cares greatly about BrittiCares International (BCI), a non-profit charity founded by parents, Jamie and Shirell Henderson, who lost their eldest daughter, Brittiana, to bone cancer. BCI is dedicated to improving the quality of life for children with cancer. Through BCI, Jamie and Shirell are committed to Britt’s legacy by generating wellness to others.
Britt was first diagnosed with Osteogenic Sarcoma (bone cancer) at the age of 10 and later developed leukemia at age 12 where she fought courageously for one year all without complaining and assisting other children with cancer to help them defeat the pernicious disease. Although Britt’s battle against Leukemia came to an end, the efforts of BCI have not diminished and have supported thousands of children battling cancer and their families.
Financial support to BrittiCares is used to sustain the organization’s “Imagine Me” program which surprises kids suffering from terminal cancer with state-of-the-art room makeovers in an effort to lift their spirits and spur creativity to help offset the suffering and pains of the debilitating disease.
Kevin and the Help From the Hart Charity continue to support Britt’s Story and her quest to “take focus of of self and put it on others.”
